The society functions as a friendly, well-knit community choir, dependant on the commitment and participation of members and Friends to stage concerts and support the committee in organisation, administration and fund raising.
Non-singing members may become Friends of the Society who provide support in practical, financial and other ways and receive benefits when attending our concerts.
Membership of the society includes trained experienced singers as well as others with little in the way of musical education, who have a good memory, an acceptable voice and are prepared to work hard.
Rehearsals
The choir performs three main concerts a year and follows a policy of in-depth preparation of weekly rehearsals generally over a 10 week period.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings on 7.30pm to 9.45pm between September and June in Lion Walk Church Hall. Singing members are expected to make every effort to attend all rehearsals.
New members of the Society are always welcome. Though an acceptable singing voice is essential, enthusiasm and commitment are just as important.
If you are interested in joining as a singing member or a Friend of the Society, please contact the Secretary, who will be pleased to give you further details.
Membership subscriptions (per season) are as follows:
Full member: £90
Senior citizens: £60
Students and under 25s: £30
Friends: £30
